What do people have to say about Wildlife Safari?

Around the Earth, wild animals and habitats are quickly disappearing. As each precious creature falls to extinction, as each piece of forest gets cut down, the world (our home) becomes a bleak and lonelier place for us to live. Environmental education is important to increase our familiarity and understanding of nature, with the hope that we will become inspired to protect, conserve and restore it back to health.

Zoo Camp works hard year-round to strengthen the relationship between humanity and nature through our outreach Wildlife Safari program. For over a decade we have captivated viewers with an array of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, spiders and insects from around the world. The entertaining and informative 45-60 minute presentation allows participants the opportunity to observe and learn about the biology and ecology of each animal, identifying the great importance of each species in the ecosystem.

Each Wildlife Education team is fun and dynamic, often including stories from their own adventures while travelling through some of the last remaining wild places- from deserts to jungles, deep caves to high mountain tops.

The presentation is action oriented, offering easy everyday solutions to prevent the further degradation of our natural environment. It’s imperative to realize that we share this planet with others and that only humanity can determine the fate of other living-beings. If we want future generations to enjoy the beauty of a tiger or a quiet walk beneath a Maple grove, that decision needs to be made today.

Where do they live, etc?

Animals that we have used in the past have included: Leopards, Tigers, Lions, Wolves, Coyotes, Foxes, Red-tailed Hawk, giant Burmese Python and an Alligator. For an updated list of available animals for outreach, please follow this link >>> Animals Available for Outreach

The animals live at Jungle Cat World Wildlife Park, established in 1983 and first accredited in 1989 by the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA ). This non-profit organization was established to promote the welfare of animals and encourage the advancement and improvement of education, conservation and science.

Certification is granted once a thorough inspection is made of the facility examining all facets of the institution, such as animal health, public safety and active conservation/education programs.

Most Municipalities, such as Toronto, have by-laws that require all live animal presentations to come from fully CAZA accredited institutions.

All the animals are regularly handled and conditioned, from the scorpions and snakes, to the owls and wolves. All large-growing predatory mammals used are young and playful, usually less than a year old. The Animal Coordinator at each presentation is responsible for the safety and welfare of the animals.
